Subject: Rosie's lesson I tried out some of the new stuff I learned at the clinic last night and it worked out very well. Normally if I came out after a week of not riding Rosie and put all sorts of new tack on her and changed her lesson plan entirely...that would be a recipe for a buck-off. However, she really enjoyed herself with all the new exercises and thus I enjoyed myself too. I assume from this that Rosie has been bored silly with my training for the last two years and just acted up to try to break the monotony. Riding "Buster" for the day has also given me a new appreciation for Rosie. She feels like a superstar after that lazy old fart. However, I am thankful that he didn't lope backwards with me on him like your Zippo Can Do mare did. I put the bigger spurs on and she responded extremely well. I guess the baby spurs had to be used continually and that would upset her meanwhille the big spurs only need to be used off and on to get a better response. I think I am going to throw those baby spurs right in the garbage! She loved her new bit too. I guess brand name bits ARE the ticket afterall. The silver hand made mexican correction bit I bought which was SUPPOSED to be just like yours is something else that should go in the garbage too. Hopefully I can sell this useless crap on e-bay. I did the run around and stop and back then roll back exercise. Also the run along the wall and turn into it exercise and Rosie thought it was great. Perhaps she should be somebody's working cowhorse instead of a pleasure/halter girl. She already knew the shoulder in and out and the hip in and out stuff. I also practiced Showmanship for a good half hour and she was really keen to do it because I always do it at the end of her lesson so I think she tries hard to get it right so she can be dismissed back to her stall. I am very pleased with what I learned at their clinic. I have only practiced their stuff for one day so far and already I feel like I am on the right track. |
